The Egyptian Papyrus with King Ankhnaton and family..
King Ankhnaton, the founder of the first monolithic religion, is shown worshiping the sun god, Aton. He is joined by his wife, Queen Nefertiti, and their daughter, Mari Aton. Mari is shown shaking a cistrum, a type of sacred rattle.
The Egyptian Papyrus is made by slicing thin strips of River Nile reeds and laying them criss-cross. They are then soaked in water and dried under weight. The result makes a very durable paper, which has been used since ancient times.
The papyrus painting measures aproximately 9" X 12."
It is painted in Gouache watercolor.
