The Egyptian Papyrus with Eye of Horus.

The Eye of Horus is flanked by Vulture goddess, Nekhbet, goddess of Upper Egypt. She was the goddess of childbirth and protectoress of the Pharoah. The Cobra goddess,Uadjat, of Lower Egypt, was also the protectoress of the pharoah. Together, the two goddesses were know as the Nebty, or two ladies. The Eye of Horus, also know as the UDJAT (meaning eye), it was the eye of the falcon-god Horus, son of the goddess Isis. The Egyptian pharoah was thought to be the god Horus incarnate. A symbol of perfection and well-being, it was a powerful amulet worn for protection against evil in ancient Egypt.

The Egyptian Papyrus is made by slicing thin strips of River Nile reeds and laying them criss-cross. They are then soaked in water and dried under weight. The result makes a very durable paper, which has been used since ancient times. The papyrus painting measures aproximately 9" X 13." It is painted in Gouache watercolor.
