The Egyptian Papyrus with the
SKY GODDESS, NUT
Taken from the painting of the ceiling of Ramses II tomb,
the Sky Goddess, Nut is shown swallowing the sun at night.
It travels through her body,
and she gives birth to it each morning.
where a winged scarab is shown rolling it across the sky.
The demigods pictured are probably the relatives of Ramses II.
The Egyptian Papyrus is made by slicing thin strips of River Nile reeds and laying them criss-cross.
They are then soaked in water and dried under weight.
The result makes a very durable paper, which has been used since ancient times.
The papyrus painting measures aproximately 9" X 12."
It is painted in Gouache watercolor.
