The Egyptian Papyrus with the Weighing of the Heart With Osiris Observing.

Taken from a scene in the Egyptian Book of the Dead, Anubis is shown weighing the deceased heart before they are allowed to enter the Afterlife. If the heart is lighter than the feather of the goddess of justice, Maat they are allowed to enter. If not, their soul is devoured by a beast.

The Egyptian Papyrus is made by slicing thin strips of River Nile reeds and laying them criss-cross. They are then soaked in water and dried under weight. The result makes a very durable paper, which has been used since ancient times. The papyrus painting measures aproximately 9" X 12". It is painted in Gouache watercolor.
